When hiring a trustworthy bathroom remodeler 5 things to consider
- How long has the company been in business?
- Are they registered with the Better Business Bureau, bonded and insured?
- How knowledgeable and experienced is your salesperson?
- Do they have a local showroom?
- Are they bathroom specialists or do they do other remodeling projects?
#1 How long has the bathroom remodeling company been in business?
All of us know the more times we do something the better you get at a task or a job. Therefore, when you are looking for a trustworthy and reliable bathroom remodeling contractor it’s important to know how long the company has been in business. Toledo New Bath and our predecessor related company was founded in 1971. That means we have been in the bath remodeling and walk in tub business for a half century or 50 years. We have successfully completed over 10,000 remodeling projects. We have a saying in our company “when doing a construction project 3 things are important: experience, experience and lastly experience.” We have plenty of it!
#2 Are they registered with the Better Business Bureau, bonded and insured?
At Toledo New Bath we have been registered and in good standing with the Better Business Bureau for over 20 years. Sure, we have a few complaints but we take “great pride” on how these complaints are resolved. The BBB will attest that all of our issues have been handled with integrity, professionalism, and resolved in a timely manner. We carry professional liability insurance in an amount that substantially exceeds the cost of our projects.
#3 How knowledgeable and experienced is your salesperson?
There is that word again “experience”. Our salespeople have in excess of 40 years in the construction business. I guarantee you if they haven’t seen a project similar to yours, they haven’t seen its first cousin. Our salesmen have experience in the field as bathroom installers, are factory trained and have been exposed to a variety of problems in the bathroom. More importantly, they have solved bathroom issues for 100’s of customers.
#4 Do they have a local bath fitters showroom?
I know, I know that sounds silly, but a showroom or physical location shows stability. You know the old saying, “They are a fly by the night outfit”, well if you have a showroom or in our case two of them, it is pretty difficult to fly by the night. We encourage people to stop in and visit us, see our products and talk to our salespeople. We have been here a long time and take great pride in our locations.
#5 Are they bathroom specialists or do they do other remodeling projects?
As our founder Paul Volmar used to say, “you wouldn’t go to an ear doctor to operate on your heart, would you?” Since our founding, we have seen over 50 companies involved in bathroom remodeling. Some failed financially, some drifted into other businesses and some were simply run out of town due to poor quality. The same thing applies to remodeling. There’s an old saying, “Jack of all trades, master of none!” We do bathrooms, that’s all we do. We’ve done over 10,000 bathroom remodels in the last 50 years. I know I wouldn’t feel comfortable with a bath installer or company who waterproofed a basement 2 days ago, repaired a roof yesterday and now he’s remodeling my bathroom today. He probably still has roofing tar on his boots from yesterday! Roofing companies should do roofs, siding companies should side houses, and bathroom remodelers should remodel bathrooms. Period end of story!
